Microschools are the newest trend to hit the education sphere. Microschools have many options and are usually small drop off private schools that oversee personalized education for a group of learners. These schools are great for parents that cannot help in the teaching and need to drop off their child but desire the value of personalized, smaller, learning education model and environment. Some microschools have a set curriculum the students follow and others allow for choice.
Learning centers are a impactful way to farm out some of the teaching to teachers that have a passion for a specific subject or is an expert in their field, while still receiving the benefits of homeschooling. Your child will have immediate access to a community of students with teachers who love what they teach. You get to pick the schedule and the classes. Mix and match for a unique and dynamic education. Some learning centers are religious organizations with chapel included and others are secular. Secular classes can often be paid for with instructional funds from charter schools which helps to alleviate the cost or make it totally free!
Hybrid programs combine the best of both by providing in person education as well as allowing the parent to homeschool part time. Typically with hybrid models, a teacher or tutor teaches two days a week to a class of children and assigns work on their days at home for the parent to assist the child. This is an excellent way for students to have a set social schedule two days a week and relieves the parent of all the teaching. Charter schools are the biggest competitor to your traditional brick and mortar public school. Charter schools are public schools but they operate on different terms which allows for more freedom for the teachers and students. Charter schools are free and they can be full time in person, part time in person, completely online, or independent study. Many homeschooling families enjoy the benefits of teacher support and instructional funds that some independent study charter schools provide. Each charter school is unique so it is important to investigate exactly what you are signing our child up for as far as requirements and compliance.
